BIOGRAPHY
ALEX A. TORRES
Alex’s first foray into screen writing began as storyist for Sci-fi Fantasy screenplay “Children of Sin”, which placed as a quarter finalist in the Lonestar Screen Writing competition. In addition he was the Executive Producer for sci-fi short thriller: Heroes which was accepted in several festivals and was on Kevin Smith’s View Askew online short film completion and place in one the monthly top five shorts. More recently, Alex, wrote an LGBT dramatic screenplay, Letting Go, which placed as a finalist in the TeaDance Gay & Lesbian Film Festival.
Alex made is directorial debut on horror short, Darker, which has so far been accepted in more than 40 festivals world wide and earned him over ten nominations, seven awards including Best Director and Best Horror Short Awards.
He produced his first feature length film, Nemesis, which has won or placed as a finalist for best screenplay in over 7 different screenplay festivals such as The Oaxaca Film Festival. Nemesis had its WORLD PREMIERE at YoFiFest, Yonkers premier film festival on November 7, 2018 and it's NYC PREMIERE at the Anthology Film Archives April 10, 2019.
Alex also recently wrote, produced and directed a short Horror/Thriller short (The Nothing), along with being the First Ad/Producer on several speculative commercials/PSA's and a short documentary on the LBGTQ perspective of a Street Theatre play regarding the Stonewall Riot of 1969. In addition he is also working on a documentary regarding the intersectionality of the "T" community within the LGBTQ community.
He was born and raised in NYS, a child of hard working Puerto Rican parents.
